SGV Homeless Homeless Planning

In 2009, the SGVCOG completed a San Gabriel Valley Regional Homeless Services Strategy - with funding from the LA County Board of Supervisors - that provided a snapshot of the existing homeless services and resources in the San Gabriel Valley and, based on surveys and stakeholder meetings, developed a variety of recommendations intended to address the homeless needs of the San Gabriel Valley member agencies.

Many changes have occurred since the survey was completed in 2009; however, the bi-annual homeless counts completed by the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA) show that the need for homeless services remains.  To address the existing needs of the member agencies, the 2013-2014 Strategic Plan, adopted by the Governing Board in October 2013, included a near-term objective of identifying member agencies' homeless services needs and to identify possible regional approaches to providing additional resources.  As such, staff has distributed a questionnaire to gauge existing city services and resources and to identify opportunities for regional coordination.
