The SGVCOG and the San Gabriel Valley are only as good as its membership and its leaders.  All of the accomplishments in the last 19 years have been made possible because of the leadership and efforts of the Valley’s elected and appointed officials.

 

In order to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of its leaders, in 2005, the COG created the Annual Awards.  These Awards are given annually to honor those individuals whose work has profoundly shaped and contributed to the success of the San Gabriel Valley. 

 

Each year, the SGVCOG presents the following awards to individuals and organizations that embody the spirit of the awards:   

 

Jack Phillips Award: Presented to an individual - either a former Governing Board member or elected official for the San Gabriel Valley or staff from a partner agency - that champions innovation in the planning, design, or delivery of a project or program that benefits the San Gabriel Valley. Awarded in honor of Jack Phillips, a former councilmember from the City of Industry and member of the SGVCOG Governing Board, who played a critical role in the formation of the ACE Project. 

 

Judy Wright Award: Presented to an individual - either a former Governing Board member or elected official for the San Gabriel Valley or staff from a partner agency - that champions leadership in the planning, design, or delivery of a project or program that benefits the San Gabriel Valley. Awarded in honor of Judy Wright, a former councilmember in the City of Claremont, who played a critical role in the formation of the SGVCOG.  

 

Consensus-Building Award: Awarded to an individual - who has previously served or currently serves on the SGVCOG Governing Board, policy committees, or TACs - who represents the spirit of cooperation and collaboration by outreaching to various stakeholders in order to further projects and programs that benefit the San Gabriel Valley.  

 

Spirit of Service Award: Presented to an individual - who has previously served or currently serves on the SGVCOG Governing Board, policy committees, or TACs - who represents the spirit of service and volunteerism, in their local community and the in the San Gabriel Valley as a whole.  

 

Sustainability Award: Awarded to an agency - a SGVCOG member agency or a partner agency - for a project or program that exemplifies sustainability in the areas of water, energy, solid waste, open space, or air quality.
