The San Gabriel Valley is a geographic area approximately 374 square mile and serves as the eastern gateway to Los Angeles and Southern California. The San Gabriel Valley is home to more than 2 million California residents living in 31 incorporated cities and many unincorporated communities.
The San Gabriel Valley, founded in 1704, is the birthplace of Southern California. It is our goal at the San Gabriel Valley Council of Governments to honor the past while we build for a better tomorrow. Metro's Proposed Sales Tax Measure, Measure R
AB 2321 (Feuer) is a bill that is passed by legislature, and is currently awaiting the Governor's signature, that allows Metro to put on the November ballot a half-cent (.5%) sales tax increase for voters to approve. Metro supplemented this bill by releasing a draft expenditure plan for its proposed half-cent sales tax increase on July 16th. Metro approved the measure to be put on the ballot, 9 to 2 (with one abstention), on July 24th. The COG was not in support of Measure R as it stood on July 24th due to the inequity of alloted funds.
